Colombo, June 3 /Xin Hua/ — At least 11 people are reported missing, and about 50 others were injured as a result of a fire that occurred in a nursing home in the city of Jaffna, Western Province of Sri Lanka.
According to police data, about 45 residents were successfully evacuated to a safe place. Presumably, several people remained inside the building engulfed in flames. A rescue operation is currently underway.
According to the police, during the fire a gas cylinder exploded, which contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.
