Bishkek, June 3 /Xin Hua/ — In Batken region in the southwest of Kyrgyzstan, more than 34 kg of narcotics were seized as a result of investigative-operational measures. This was reported on Wednesday by the press service of the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As reported, during operational activities, information was received that a citizen was engaged in the illegal import of the narcotic drug “hashish” into the territory of Kyrgyzstan from Tajikistan in especially large quantities with the aim of subsequent distribution.
As a result of operations carried out by employees of the Batken Region Internal Affairs Directorate, it was established that the mentioned individual is a citizen born in 1993, who was detained while attempting to sell narcotic substances. During the search of the detainee and his vehicle, operatives discovered and seized three packages wrapped in yellow tape containing a substance with a specific odor. The total weight of the seized material amounted to 3 kg.
During a subsequent urgent search at the place of residence, an additional 31 similar rolls with a total weight of 31 kg 398 g were discovered and seized. The total weight of the seized narcotic substances amounted to 34 kg 448 g.
A forensic examination has been appointed to determine the exact type and weight of the seized substances. –0–
