Paris, July 7 /Xinhua/ — The National Assembly /parliament/ of France did not support a vote of no confidence against the government of Prime Minister Sebastian Lecornu, which was attempted due to actions during the June heatwave.
The no-confidence motion was introduced on July 2 by deputies from the Green party with the support of several legislators from the far-left faction “Unsubmissive France” and the Socialists. They accused the government of failing to respond adequately to the record deadly heatwave that hit France at the end of June.
As reported by the National Assembly, the resolution was supported by 132 deputies, which is significantly below the threshold of 289 votes required to dismiss the government. –0–
