Hohhot, July 3 /Xinhua/ — On July 2, in the city of Hohhot, the administrative center of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region /Northern China/, a presentation of 10 cross-border tourist routes took place as part of the international promotional campaign to advance tourism “The Great Tea Road,” uniting iconic cultural and tourist resources of China, Russia, and Mongolia.
The Great Tea Road, which originated in the 17th century, started from the Wuyi Mountains and reached Saint Petersburg, crossing the territories of China, Mongolia, and Russia. This tea delivery route, approximately 14 thousand km long, became an important economic and cultural link connecting Asia and Europe, following the ancient Silk Road.
Among the top ten tourism routes mentioned are tours along the magical Great Tea Route, tours to UNESCO World Natural Heritage sites, tours through mountains and rivers, tours on the history of tea trade, a cross-border road trip across three lakes / Hulun Lake in China, Hovsgol Lake in Mongolia, and Lake Baikal in Russia /, China-Mongolia cross-border train tours, China-Russia cross-border train tours, tours to explore the intangible cultural heritage and folklore of the three countries, ice and snow wellness tours across the three states, and cross-border educational tours.
In particular, tours along the magical Great Tea Road represent a flagship tour route that passes through the territories of China, Russia, and Mongolia, crossing five main landscapes (mountains, rivers, the Gobi Desert, steppes, and forests). Starting from the Wuyishan Mountains (Fujian Province, East China), it goes through more than 20 cities in China, Russia, and Mongolia, and ends in Saint Petersburg.
The purpose of presenting the aforementioned tourist routes is to further deepen cooperation among the three countries in the field of cultural tourism, as well as to increase the popularity and influence of the international tourist brand “The Great Tea Road.” It took place as part of the 10th meeting of tourism administration heads of China, Russia, and Mongolia held in Hohhot.
During the mentioned meeting, representatives of the three countries engaged in an in-depth exchange of views on issues such as improving the mechanism of tourism cooperation among the three countries, strengthening oversight of tourism safety, creating a cultural tourism brand, and defining the role of the international tourism union “Great Tea Road,” and reached a number of consensuses on further strengthening leadership through cooperation mechanisms, enhancing platform development, and enriching the content of cooperation.
As part of this meeting, events such as an exhibition of tea culture, a summer camp for teenagers from China, Russia, and Mongolia, and a thematic exhibition at the Museum of Inner Mongolia were also held.
Since the first meeting of tourism administration leaders of China, Russia, and Mongolia in 2016, the mechanism for cultural and tourism cooperation among the three countries has been continuously improved, cross-border tourism products have continued to be enriched, and exchange activities among teenagers have become more frequent, creating an important platform for friendly human exchanges among the three states. -0-
