Amman, July 3 /Xinhua/ — Jordan, in cooperation with Qatar, on Thursday sent humanitarian, medical, and food aid to Venezuela to support efforts to eliminate the consequences of two earthquakes that struck the country, according to a statement from the Jordanian Armed Forces.
According to the statement, under the directives of King Abdullah II, the Qatari military transport aircraft C-17 flew from Amman to Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, carrying 26 tons of specialized medicines, as well as medical consumables, equipment, essential goods, and food packages.
The cargo also included equipment for the Jordanian International Search and Rescue Team, operating under the Public Security Directorate, which began rescue operations in Venezuela earlier this week.
Another Qatari plane carrying similar humanitarian, medical, and food aid is scheduled to depart from Amman on Friday, the statement says. –0–
