From July 2 to 4, the All-Russian Gathering of Veterans of the Russian Student Brigades will take place in Naberezhnye Chelny. The ceremonial opening of the event, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the city and the 50th anniversary of the first KAMAZ truck production, will be held today.
420 people from 33 regions of Russia will participate in the gathering – veterans of student brigades from the Soviet era, including the pioneers of “KAMAZ” and the city of Naberezhnye Chelny, representatives of regional branches of the Russian Student Brigades (RSO), production supervisors, students, and pupils of specialized educational institutions.

Veterans laid the foundation on which we are building new projects today, and our task is to preserve this experience and pass it on. The main task of the rally is to share experience and maintain the connection between generations, to show how the labor traditions of the 1970s and 1980s continue today. A rich program has been prepared for the participants: theatrical performances about the construction of the plant and the city, tours of the KAMAZ plants – the press-frame, engines, automotive, and foundry – acquaintance with the infrastructure of the Zonal headquarters, visits to memorable places: the stele of the shock construction, the monument to the builders of KAMAZ, the pier where Komsomol members arrived by the Kama River to join the construction.
Naberezhnye Chelny became the center of the All-Union Komsomol shock construction project “KAMAZ” in January 1970. Over 10 years, more than 25,000 students from across the Soviet Union participated in the construction project. Today, the tradition of student squads in Tatarstan continues: from 2024 to 2026, four stages of the All-Russian student project have already taken place at the automotive giant, and the fifth, anniversary stage will take place in the summer. Over the four stages, students assembled 22,372 trucks, 19,881 cabs, and 11,920 engines. The 2026 winter stage involved 225 participants from 15 regions. Over two years, a total of 6,335 people have been employed through the zonal headquarters of student squads at KAMAZ.
