Urumqi, July 2 /Xinhua/ — From January to June 2026, more than 797,000 people passed through the Horgos automobile checkpoint in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Northwest China), an increase of 15 percent compared to the same period last year, surpassing the peak figures for the corresponding period of all previous years. According to Du Yalin, a guide of the Chinese tour group heading on a three-day excursion to Almaty, after customs clearance at the checkpoint, they will first arrive in Zharkent and then transfer to a scheduled bus for the trip to Almaty.
It should be recalled that currently there are 9 international passenger bus routes operating at the Khorgos checkpoint between China and Kazakhstan.
