Sacramento /USA/, June 28 /Xin Hua/ — Three firefighters died, two others received burns on Saturday while extinguishing a rapidly spreading fire on the border of Colorado and Utah. This was reported on Sunday by the American Service for Fighting Wildfires.
Due to hot, dry, and windy weather, the total number of large, unlocalized fires across the country has reached 45.
Firefighters failed to cope with the advancing flames while extinguishing the “Noulz” and “Gor” fires in Mesa County, Colorado, and were forced to use emergency shelters, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security reported. Two survivors were hospitalized with burns.
“Nowles” and “Gor” subsequently merged with other fires, forming the “Snider” fire, the Ministry of Internal Affairs notes.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis orally declared a state of emergency on Saturday and authorized the deployment of the National Guard to assist in firefighting, reports Colorado Public Radio. –0–
