Three high-performance carbon fiber production lines launched in China

Beijing, June 29 /Xinhua/ — The largest Chinese manufacturer of building materials, China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. (CNBM), on Sunday put into operation three world-class high-performance production lines for carbon fiber. This will allow China to strengthen the supply of high-quality products made from carbon fiber.

New production lines located in Lianyungang / Jiangsu Province, East China / based on the subsidiary CNBM Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd., capable of producing three main categories of carbon fiber: standard, high strength, and high modulus.

Carbon fiber is distinguished by its light weight, high strength, and corrosion resistance, widely used in the aerospace industry, new energy, high technology manufacturing, and other fields. It is also used to make high-quality sports equipment, such as carbon plates for sports shoes, medical equipment, and class 3C electronics.

All three lines are Zhongfu Shenying’s own development. These are production lines for tow / roving / made from carbon fiber with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons, high-strength carbon fiber SYT70 / T1100 / with a capacity of 1,000 tons, and carbon fiber with a high modulus with a capacity of 600 tons per year.

The launch, as noted by CNBM Chairman Zhou Yuxiang, makes it possible to solve such structural problems related to insufficient supplies and incomplete range of high-quality carbon fibers, and to provide both supplies of standard, as well as high-strength and high-modulus fibers.

These new lines will also help solve a general problem related to the development and mass production of high-quality carbon fibers, as well as significantly increase the safety and stability of supplies of these key strategic materials in China, he added.
