Guangzhou, June 25 /Xin Hua/ — As of June 24, starting from 2026, the total number of border crossings through the international airport checkpoint (ICP) “Baiyun” in the city of Guangzhou (Guangdong Province, South China) exceeded 10 million person-times, reported the customs service of the city of Guangzhou.
This indicator increased by more than 21% annually, with the 10-million mark being reached a month earlier than in 2025, updating the historical maximum.
According to the data from the Guangzhou Customs, the steady growth of the indicator is mainly due to the optimization and improvement of the air route network of the “Baiyun” airport.
This year, the number of flights on 14 international passenger and cargo routes, 13 of which are operated by countries participating in the “Belt and Road” initiative, was opened or increased here for the first time. Thanks to this, the number of international and regional directions served by the Guangzhou airport “Baiyun” exceeded 100, which contributes to the further growth of aviation potential and the expansion of the service coverage area.
As reported by the customs service, to ensure the smooth passage of customs for arriving passengers amid growing passenger traffic, intellectual customs measures have been implemented, including preliminary inspection and intellectual image analysis. Since the beginning of this year, the average daily passenger flow through the Bayun checkpoint is 58 thousand people, with the peak average daily passenger flow reaching 68 thousand people here.
