Beijing, June 25 /Xinhua/ — On Wednesday, the first practical skills competition for crew members of vessels navigating the border rivers of China and Russia was held in the working zone of the western part of the Tumen River Korean Autonomous Prefecture in the Chinese province of Heilongjiang /Northeast China/. This was reported by the Chinese news agency “Zhongguo Xinwen She” on its website.
The purpose of holding this competition was to create a team of highly qualified boatmen on the border rivers, as well as an important platform for exchange and mutual training in the field of navigation on the border rivers between the two countries.
About 20 Russian and Chinese shipbuilding companies and more than 200 shipbuilders participated in the competition.
Three Chinese teams and one Russian team made it to the final, consisting of 20 representatives of pilots from both countries. They were to compete in disciplines such as sailing, practical actions in rescue and firefighting, as well as answering questions on actions in emergency situations, which allowed for a comprehensive test of the practical skills and theoretical training of the contest participants.
After two hours of intense struggle, first place was shared equally by one team from Russia and one from China.
The Maritime Affairs Administration of Tszyamusy stated that in the future it will use this competition as an opportunity to regularly conduct training courses to improve the qualifications of ship captains, take measures to ensure maritime supervision and services based on continuous optimization, and also make every effort to maintain a stable situation in the field of water transport security on the border river between the two countries.
