Moscow, June 24 /TASS/ — The foreign policy link between Russia and China is a significant factor in maintaining international stability. This was stated on Wednesday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, speaking at the 12th International Scientific and Expert Forum “Primakov Readings” in Moscow.
“The external political alliance of Moscow and Beijing acts as a significant factor in maintaining international stability, offering a model of a safe and just future,” said the Russian minister.
He drew attention to the fact that the contours of such a model had never before been indicated in documents from the Russia-China summits. Once again, they were detailed in the joint declaration of Russia and China on the formation of a multipolar world and a new type of international relations, signed following the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Beijing in May of this year. “I have no doubt that the expert community has paid attention to this important document,” noted S. Lavrov.
The head of the Russian foreign policy department emphasized that multipolarity does not doom the world to chaos and confrontation, as attempts are made to intimidate critics of multipolarity, but that the balance of interests based on international law is quite achievable. “This is confirmed by Russian-Chinese relations, in particular by the relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction. And it can be considered a model of equal, mutually beneficial cooperation between two major powers,” S. Lavrov indicated. –0–
