Beirut, June 20 /Sina/ — Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Friday that a comprehensive ceasefire is a fundamental condition for advancing negotiations between Lebanon, the USA, and Israel, which will take place in Washington next week. This was reported by the country’s National News Agency /NNA/.

In a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio Jr., he called for an end to Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory. According to him, a new round of talks is aimed at restoring security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Lebanon, NNA reports.

The agency added that M. Rubio confirmed the support of Lebanon by the USA and the country’s efforts to ensure security and stability, the spread of state authority across the entire Lebanese territory, and the strengthening of legal institutions, in particular the Lebanese army. –0–
