Moscow, June 18 /Xin Hua/ — Russia welcomes the achievement of an agreement to end the military conflict between the USA and Iran. This was stated on Thursday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
“We welcome the achievement of an agreement to end the military conflict between the USA and Iran, recorded by the presidents of the two countries — D. Trump and M. Pezeshkian — in a remote format. We note the firm mutual determination demonstrated by Washington and Tehran to strictly observe the terms of the signed memorandum of understanding. We give due credit to the energetic and effective efforts of the Pakistani and Qatari mediators with the aim of resolving existing contradictions through negotiations,” reads the statement published on the website of the Russian foreign affairs department.
“In the upcoming sensitive and responsible period of developing a comprehensive agreement, it is extremely important that all parties involved in the armed confrontation clearly adhere to the Iran-American understandings achieved and do not allow a new dangerous escalation of tensions in the region, including in Lebanon,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
