Xining, June 16 /Xinhua/ — As of 18:40 on Tuesday, one person died and four others were injured as a result of a magnitude 6.3 earthquake in the Haixi Mongol-Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province /Northwest China/.
The earthquake occurred at 17:06 Beijing time. The epicenter of the underground tremors was located at the point with coordinates 37.80 degrees north latitude and 95.56 degrees east longitude. The hypocenter was at a depth of 10 km.
The seismological administration of Qinghai province sent a working group to the area affected by the earthquake to assist local authorities in responding to the emergency.
According to the provincial department for emergency management, at 18:10 an emergency response mechanism of level II was activated in connection with the earthquake. -0-
