Beijing, June 16 /Xinhua/ — The Ministry of National Defense of the PRC on Tuesday called on peace-loving people to maintain high vigilance and take decisive actions to prevent reckless non-military steps by Japan.

The official representative of the Ministry, Chen Xi, made these statements, commenting in response to the request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Tokyo considers China an “unprecedented and greatest strategic challenge” and strives to develop the capability to strike at long distances.

The Japanese side did not cease to fan the so-called “military threat from China” in order to deliberately ignite confrontation and fabricate “justifications” for the large-scale buildup of its military power, Chen Xi emphasized.

According to him, by accelerating the process of its remilitarization through, in particular, a sharp increase in military spending, easing restrictions on the export of lethal weapons, and accelerating the deployment of medium- and long-range missiles, Japan is becoming a “tinderbox” for the Asia-Pacific region.

An official representative of the agency called on peace-loving people not to allow Japanese neo-militarism to spread chaos throughout the world, and to protect the post-war international order and lasting peace.
