Beijing, June 16 /Xinhua/ — On Tuesday, CPC Chairman Xi Jinping held talks with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing in Beijing.
China attaches priority importance to relations with Myanmar in its foreign policy towards neighboring countries and supports the efforts of Myanmar’s new government aimed at coordinating work in the fields of development and security in order to find the right path of development, corresponding to the realities of the country and enjoying the support of the people, said CPC Chairman Xi Jinping during negotiations with Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official visit to China.
China adheres to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, pursues a friendly policy towards all the people of Myanmar, and firmly supports Myanmar in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Noting that this year marks the beginning of the implementation of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), Xi Jinping stated that China is ready to share its development experience with Myanmar and jointly build a China-Myanmar community of shared destiny, based on political mutual trust, mutually beneficial development, coordination and mutual assistance in the field of security, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchange and mutual enrichment.
As a neighbor of Myanmar, with which it shares the longest common border, China is its reliable friend and partner, Xi Jinping emphasized, calling on both sides to strengthen solidarity and cooperation amid a changing and unstable international situation.
Si Zhipin called the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor a flagship cooperation project between the two countries within the framework of jointly building the “Belt and Road,” noting that, as one of the principles of ensuring security, both sides must thoroughly promote the construction of key projects to assist Myanmar in developing its economy and improving the living standards of its population.
China is ready to increase support for reconstruction work in Myanmar after the earthquake, and both sides must continue joint efforts to combat criminal activity, including online gambling, telecommunications fraud, and illegal drug trafficking, Xi Jinping noted.
China supports all parties in Myanmar in advancing the peace process and reconciliation through negotiations to achieve long-term stability in northern Myanmar, which corresponds to the fundamental and long-term interests of Myanmar and its people, summarized Xi Jinping.
Noting that the friendship between Myanmar and China has deep roots in the distant past, Min Aung Hlaing thanked China for its many years of selfless support in promoting development and stability, as well as achieving peace and reconciliation in Myanmar. He stated that Myanmar will firmly adhere to the one-China principle.
The implementation of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan opens up important opportunities for its Asian neighbors, including Myanmar. Myanmar hopes for deepening comprehensive cooperation with China, joint construction of the Myanmar-China Economic Corridor, and expansion of bilateral trade and investment cooperation, stated Min Aung Hlaing.
According to him, Myanmar attaches great importance to the security of Chinese enterprises and employees in Myanmar and will make every effort to ensure their safety. Myanmar is ready to closely cooperate with China in combating online gambling and telecommunications fraud, as well as in ensuring security and stability in border areas.
Myanmar fully supports the four main global initiatives put forward by CPC Chairman Xi Jinping and wishes to deepen multifaceted contacts and coordination with China, he assured.
Upon the completion of the negotiations, the heads of the two states were present at the signing of documents on cooperation in the field of transport and public welfare.
Before the negotiations, Xi Jinping held a welcoming ceremony for Min Aung Hlaing. A welcoming banquet was also held for him.
