Dushanbe, June 12 /Xin Hua/ — Central Asia is forming a stable core of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and giving impetus to its further development. This was stated on Friday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
With this statement, the head of the Tajik foreign affairs department spoke at the international conference “Central Asia – the core of the SCO: space of peace and joint prosperity,” held in Dushanbe.
S. Musiriddin noted that SCO, as one of the significant participants in the modern system of international cooperation, makes a substantial contribution to ensuring regional security, stability, and growth of the world economy, and the dynamic development of Central Asia adds additional stability and long-term direction to these efforts.
According to him, Central Asia objectively plays a system-forming role in the development of the SCO, forming its sustainable core — a space of trust, predictability, and practical cooperation. The higher the level of mutual understanding and coordination between the states of the region, the stronger and more capable the organization becomes, the minister emphasized.
The head of Tajikistan’s MIID expressed confidence that the further expansion of economic cooperation, diversification of external relations of the Central Asian states with SCO partners, as well as the consolidation of efforts in the field of security, will contribute to long-term stability and general prosperity throughout the Eurasian space. –0–
