On Russia Day and the Youth Day of the VI International Tourism Forum “Travel!”, Deputy Chairman of the Government Dmitry Chernyshenko greeted the participants, experts, and partners of the plenary discussion “Who wants to become a traveler?” Together with the head of Rosmolodezh Grigory Gurov, he also launched the new season of the All-Russian award “More than a journey,” implemented by Rosmolodezh within the framework of the national project “Youth and Children.”
At the beginning of the plenary session, the Vice Premier congratulated the participants on Russia Day, emphasizing that travel is an incredible, powerful way to learn more, fall in love with our country, experience its diversity, wealth, and power.
“Congratulations on Russia Day! On this day, everything coincided: President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin declared 2026 the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia, today is Russia Day, Youth Day of the ‘Travel!’ forum. From my own experience, I can say that travel is the brightest moments that remain in the heart, which you carry through your entire life. Today we are launching the ‘More than Travel’ award. The award is young, it is two years old, but we see a huge number of participants of serious caliber – this is ‘Chersonesus Taurica’, projects ‘Rosatoma’ and others,” Dmitry Chernyshenko announced.
Among the topical directions of the hospitality industry, the Vice Premier especially noted industrial and patriotic tourism. He shared recollections of how, as a child, he trained at a sports camp in places where Soviet soldiers stopped the mountain shooter division “Edelweiss.” Such experience helped young athletes learn about the history of the country.
Dmitry Chernyshenko reminded about the upcoming Youth Day, which will take place on June 27 in Smolensk, the youth capital of Russia – 2026.
To launch the new season of the All-Russian award “More than a Journey,” the Deputy Prime Minister together with the head of Rosmolodezh, Grigory Gurov, signed a symbolic “ticket to the journey” – it was carried out by the winners of the 2025 award.
Tourist companies, tour guides, media content creators, route organizers, and youth event organizers, regional teams — everyone who organizes and promotes travel across Russia among children and youth can apply for the “More Than a Journey” award. Every resident of Russia can recommend for the award those whom, in their opinion, deserve it. Such a mechanism allows identifying not only already recognized industry leaders but also new promising initiatives that enjoy the trust and support of people in the region.
Symbolically, we are launching a new season of the “More Than a Journey” award on Russia Day. After all, love for the homeland begins with a personal study of one’s country. According to our research “Generation Index,” 88% of young people prefer domestic tourism over international travel. To encourage those who contribute to the development of this field, the All-Russian award “More Than a Journey” will be held within the framework of the national project “Youth and Children.” This is the first award in the country that recognizes the best practices of youth tourism and promotes the dissemination of successful experience throughout Russia.Last year’s experience showed that interest in the award is very high. More than 7.7 thousand applications were submitted from all 89 regions of Russia, and 450 experts participated in the evaluation of the works. This year, every resident of our country will have the opportunity to recommend for the award people, organizations, and projects that, in their opinion, deserve it. I wish success to the participants this year!” said the head of Rosmolodezh, Grigory Gurov.
In addition, at the “More Than a Journey” program stand, Dmitry Chernyshenko and Grigory Gurov chatted with its participants, as well as with members of the “Guides of Meaning. Excursionists” community.
