Moscow, June 9 /Xin Hua/ — The International Festival of Chinese Cinema opened on Monday at the Moscow cinema “Illusion.” The festival program features six films representing a wide genre palette of contemporary Chinese cinema: action, animation, historical drama, comedy, war film, and melodrama. The films will be shown in Chinese with Russian subtitles.
The screenings will take place immediately in three cities of Russia — Moscow, Yekaterinburg, and Vladivostok. The film that opened the festival in Moscow was the comedic adventure movie “Lychee from Chan’an.”
“Cultural bridges between Russia and China, the mutual interest of Russian and Chinese audiences in the national cinema of our countries, confirm sincere respect and strong friendship between the two peoples. The extensive geography of screenings will allow viewers from various regions of Russia to get acquainted with the richness of genres of China’s film industry,” said Russia’s Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova.
“We have something to talk about, we have something to show each other. The ability to speak in a language of culture, a language of cinema that is understandable to each other is the best way to bring our countries closer,” noted Alexey Urazov, director for international cooperation and special projects of the National Media Group.
The International Chinese Film Festival will be held from June 8 to 14, 2026 in Moscow, Ekaterinburg, and Vladivostok. The organizer is JSC “ROSKINO” together with the Chinese Center for Cinema Arts Research with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the State Administration of Film Affairs of China.
