Beijing, June 7 /Xin Hua/ — As of the end of May 2026, China’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to 3.4422 trillion dollars, which is 31.7 billion dollars or 0.93 percent more than the figure registered at the end of April. This is evidenced by data published on Sunday by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) of the PRC.
The State University Higher School of Economics stated that in May, under the influence of factors such as the global macroeconomic environment and prospects for monetary policy of leading economies, the US dollar index increased, while the prices of major global financial assets demonstrated an overall growth.
The combined effect of factors such as foreign exchange transactions and changes in asset prices led to an increase in the volume of foreign exchange reserves in May, according to a statement by the GUVK.
China’s economy maintains the momentum of sustainable growth, demonstrating significant progress in advancing high-quality development, which supports the overall stability of the country’s foreign exchange reserves, the statement notes. -0-
