Washington, June 7 /Xinua/ — The US Armed Forces on Saturday shot down two Iranian drones that allegedly threatened shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by the US Central Command /CENTCOM/ on social media platform X.
On Friday, CENTCOM reported that American military forces intercepted several ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran towards the Strait of Hormuz and neighboring countries of the Persian Gulf.
Iran has not yet commented on the CENTCOM statement.
What happened became another clash between Washington and Tehran against the backdrop of a new escalation of tensions in the Middle East. The two countries have been conducting indirect negotiations on conflict resolution for several weeks.
