About 70 thousand electric meters were replaced free of charge in residential buildings since the beginning of this year. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement.Petr Biryukov.

“We continue the activities for the centralized replacement of electricity metering devices in residential buildings. This year we will replace approximately 200 thousand devices in total, of which almost 70 thousand have already been installed. The work is carried out free of charge, since starting from July 1, 2020, the responsibility for organizing electricity metering in apartment buildings has been transferred to Mosenergosbyt,” noted Petr Biryukov.

Specialists are dismantling old meters that have failed or are past their verification period. The new multi-tariff meters are designed for 30 years.

Additionally, equipment is installed with them that allows connecting to the intelligent electricity metering system. Residents will not need to transmit data about energy consumption; the system will do this independently in automatic mode.

The date of work to replace the electricity meters is announced in advance: the relevant information is posted on the notice board with announcements in the entrance and near residential buildings.
