Thematic tournament dedicated to Russia Day will be held from June 8 to 9 in the “Gifts” service of the electronic diaryMoscow Electronic School“MESh”. It can be participated in by students from grades 1-11, who will need to answer questions on history, geography, culture, literature, as well as about outstanding figures of the country. “The tournament questions are adapted according to the age and education level of the children. For example, primary school students will be asked about the state symbols of Russia, the locations of Russian cities with populations over one million, the country’s nature, Russian folk tales, and folk art. Middle school students will have to answer questions about the eras of the 9th–16th centuries, the Moscow Kremlin, natural zones, and the ‘Lay of Igor’s Campaign’. For high school students, assignments have been prepared to test knowledge about the USSR and its collapse, the works of Mikhail Bulgakov, and Silver Age poetry,” the department’s press service noted.
To participate, students must register by June 7 inclusive in the “Assignments” section of the “Gifts” service. The number of questions in the tournament depends on the grade: for students in grades 1–4 — 20 tasks, grades 5–9 — 22 tasks, grades 10–11 — 23 tasks.
The competitions are conducted in leagues, formed according to the parallels of each class based on the completed tasks in the “Gifts” service. Three winners are determined in each league. They are chosen based on the total points scored for completed tasks. If the results are the same, the number of attempts and completion time are taken into account.
For first place in the league, participants receive a thousand stars; for second — 800; for third — 500. Virtual currency can be exchanged for digital gifts in the special “Gifts” service store. Currently, the catalog has 24 items, including the Russian flag costing 50 stars, an eskimo — 75 stars, “Brdysh” memes — 125 stars, “6–7 with lime” — 150 stars, “Cheremsha” — 175 stars, as well as a capybara and a shark in sneakers for 200 stars each.
From March 2026, game tournaments and marathons will be available on “MESh.” The format of the marathons involves solving a series of tasks within a limited time, while the tournaments take place in a league where children compete against each other. Since the launch, about 17 thousand students have participated.
Digital gifts are popular among schoolchildren. Over the school year, more than 1.7 million were sent. Most often, they gave a rose (over 333 thousand sent), a single rose (more than 129 thousand), and a bouquet (86 thousand). All received and sent gifts are displayed in the “Profile” tab.
