Hanchzhou, June 4 /Xinhua/ — The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, made a trip to Anxi County, Zhejiang Province (Eastern China), to familiarize himself with the practice of green development in China.
In the village of Yuizun, Tonglun Sisulit photographed an inscription carved on a boulder that reads: “Emerald waters and green mountains are a priceless treasure.”
The village of Yuicun is the birthplace of this concept, and the boulder with the inscription serves as a spiritual guide that directed the village on the path of environmentally clean development.
During the visit, Tonglun Sisulite chatted with the owner of the guest house “Chunlin Villa” — the first of such a tour facility in the village. He was surprised to learn that the current annual income of the guest house owner exceeds 1 million yuan (about 146,621 dollars, USA), which reflects the village’s transformation from stone mining to development through ecotourism.
Before leaving, Thonglun Sisulith gave the village a handmade souvenir plate depicting the national treasure of Laos, the That Luang pagoda, and in return received a miniature copy of a boulder with an inscription.
Tonglun Sisulit also visited the cluster of guest houses in the national tourist resort “Linfen” of Anzi County. This national model guest house community has attracted more than 100 young entrepreneurs and provides an annual income of more than 100 million yuan.
He highly praised the practice of the Anzi district in attracting investments and implementing support measures, thanks to which jobs were created for local youth and university graduates who returned to their homeland.
Tongluen Sisulit stated that a visit to the province of Chzhezjan allowed him to personally witness China’s achievements in the field of socialist modernization.
In 2026, the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos will be celebrated, and this year has also been declared the Year of China-Laos Friendship. Thongloun Sisoulith expressed hope that his official state visit to China, including a visit to Beijing, will allow for even deeper bilateral practical cooperation and will contribute to an even more productive development of comprehensive strategic cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
