Gaza/Ramallah, June 1 /Xin Hua/ — Health authorities in the Gaza Strip reported on Sunday that 33 Palestinians were killed and more than 130 others were injured as a result of attacks by Israel during the Eid al-Adha holiday, which began on Wednesday and ended on Saturday.
In their daily report, medics reported that the number of deaths in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has risen to 72,939, and the number of injured has reached 172,927.
The report states that there are still victims under the rubble and on the streets, and that emergency medical teams and civil defense squads are facing significant difficulties trying to reach them.
The director of the “Al-Aqsa Martyrs” hospital in the Deir al-Balah province in the central Gaza Strip, Raed Hussein, warned about the imminent closure of the hospital due to a severe crisis with electricity and water supply, both the main and backup generators being out of order.
At the press conference held at the hospital, he noted that the crisis has directly affected the operation of vital departments, in particular the operating rooms.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian was killed on Sunday by Israeli soldiers near the separation barrier in the city of Al-Ram to the north of Jerusalem, according to Palestinian sources.
The Ministry of Health of Palestine confirmed in a press statement that 26-year-old Imad Ishtay died from wounds sustained as a result of shelling by Israeli forces near the barrier in Al-Ram.
Local sources reported that Israeli soldiers began shooting at I. Ishtaiyeh when he tried to cross the separation barrier to find work in Israel and support his family. –0–
