Beirut, June 1 /Sina/ — The Hezbollah group is committed to a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire, said Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Sunday, calling for efforts to force Israel to stop its military operations. This was reported by Lebanon’s national information agency.
N. Berry stated that the conflict “does not consist of a resistance position regarding a ceasefire,” but rather of a continuation of Israeli military operations in Lebanon, which, according to him, have led to the displacement of thousands of Lebanese civilians and continue to destroy villages and houses in various regions.
Any efforts to de-escalate the conflict require real guarantees that Israel would be obliged to completely stop its attacks, he added.
His remarks were made at a time when an unprecedented military escalation by the Israeli army is taking place in southern Lebanon, which Israel considers necessary for the elimination of Hezbollah.
