Happy Birthday, Saint Petersburg!
On May 27, Saint Petersburg celebrates its 323rd anniversary since its founding. The Northern capital is a city of great architecture, engineering thought, scientific discoveries, and cultural heritage — for more than three centuries it has inspired generations of creators.
For the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, this holiday has special significance. The history of SPbGASU is inextricably linked with the history of the city on the Neva. The university has been involved for almost two centuries in shaping the architectural appearance of Petersburg, the development of the construction industry, transport infrastructure, and the urban environment.
Today, graduates and teachers of SPBGASU make a contribution to the preservation of the historical heritage of Petersburg, to the design of modern public spaces, to the development of construction technologies, and to the creation of a comfortable urban environment. Many iconic projects of the Northern capital are implemented with the participation of specialists who graduated from SPBGASU.
“Petropavlovskaya Fortress” – a picturesque panel created for the interior decoration of the Vitebsk railway station in Petersburg. The station interiors were designed according to the project of civil engineer Sima Minash – a graduate of the Institute of Civil Engineers of Emperor Nicholas I (now SPbGASU).
Petersburg remains a unique example of harmony between architecture, engineering, and culture. Its streets, embankments, and squares serve as a living textbook for future architects, builders, restorers, and engineers. It is here that ideas capable of shaping the appearance of the cities of the future are born.
We congratulate everyone whom this city unites on the birthday of Saint Petersburg! We love it for its severity and romance, for the drawbridges, quiet squares, and for the opportunity to influence its future every day. We wish the city on the Neva further development, prosperity, preservation of its unique historical heritage, and the implementation of new large-scale projects.
Happy birthday, our beloved and most beautiful city – Saint Petersburg!
