The final of the “Moscow Masters” competition among veterinarians was held in the capital. At this stage, 10 specialists from state and private city clinics participated. In 2026, only women made it to the final. Among them were specialists from various fields — from oncologists and nephrologists to surgeons, ultrasound diagnostics experts, laboratory experts, and epizootologists.

In the final, the contestants had to go through two practical tests. In the first, the doctors demonstrated vaccination skills on domestic animals. Experts assessed the technique of administering the drug, speed and confidence of movements, as well as the ability to communicate with the pet owner and provide detailed and clear recommendations.
At the second stage, participants demonstrated mastery in applying surgical sutures. The jury paid attention to the uniformity of the stitches, the correct tension of the thread, as well as the strict adherence to sanitary standards and safety techniques.
“Lively interest of specialists in the competition is the best proof of their faith and sincere love for the profession. There is always an atmosphere of healthy competition, energy, and excitement here, as the tasks become more complex and fascinating. This is a place where experience and youth meet, where contests help reveal talents and find true masters who, through their daily work, drive forward the entire capital’s veterinary field,” noted the chairman of the Veterinary Committee of the city of Moscow.
As a result of almost all the trials, three finalists emerged in the decisive round. They had to demonstrate theoretical knowledge in various fields of veterinary medicine by answering questions in an intellectual quiz.
In the end, having scored the highest number of points, the title of best veterinary doctor of Moscow 2026 was won by Yulia Romanova, a surgeon-oncologist, veterinary doctor of the Soviet veterinary clinic of the Station for Animal Disease Control of the North-Western Administrative Okrug of Moscow. Second place was taken by Alexandra Volkova, candidate of veterinary sciences, surgeon-neurologist of the Moscow Station for Animal Disease Control. Third place in terms of the number of points scored was Anna Shlyastina, a veterinary doctor — epizootologist of the Tushino veterinary clinic of the Station for Animal Disease Control of the North-Western and Western Administrative Okrugs of Moscow.She also became the winner in the nomination “For dedication to the chosen profession”.
In addition to the winners, the jury also noted several other doctors. The youngest participant in the competition was Anna Bakutina, a veterinary surgeon at LLC “VK Center”, and the best young specialist of the state veterinary service of Moscow was named Natalya Monaova, a veterinary doctor at the Clemens Station veterinary outpatient clinic for fighting animal diseases in the TINAO district of Moscow.
The competition included not only experienced specialists but also students from specialized universities. In mid-May, they competed in a separate category “Best Future Veterinarian.” Based on the results of the competition, the jury noted the four most talented participants.
