Urumqi, May 25 /Xinhua/ — Starting in 2026, the export of freshly cut flowers through the Khorgos checkpoint (KPP) has increased significantly, according to statistical data from the local customs.
From January to April of this year, the volume of shipments to the international market through the Khorgos CPI, located in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region /XUAR, Northwest China/ on the border between China and Kazakhstan, increased by 101.1% year-on-year to 4987.1 tons.
In recent years, demand for freshly cut flowers in Central Asia has been steadily increasing. Thus, flowers grown in Ili-Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang are becoming increasingly popular among foreign consumers. In the Ili Prefecture, a large number of entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan are engaged in cross-border trade of freshly cut flowers.
The customs of the city of Khorgos have opened a “green” corridor for agricultural products. Thanks to measures adopted to improve the efficiency of customs clearance, the transportation time of freshly cut flowers to Central Asian countries is no more than 70 hours.
“In order for each batch of freshly cut flowers to retain maximum freshness, we maintain constant contact with exporters and provide services even before the shipment of goods, as well as develop customs clearance plans in advance,” shared Gao Minyue, a representative of the customs office in the city of Khorgos. -0-
