In the city of Busan (South Korea), the results of the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) were summed up. A team of eight students from Russia won four gold and four silver medals at the prestigious competition. In the overall team standings, the schoolchildren ranked among the top five countries.

The Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and the Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov congratulated the team on the victory.

The Russian team once again demonstrated high results at the Asian International Physics Olympiad. Our guys won four gold and four silver medals. We are proud of their achievements and believe that these victories will become starting points for future scientific discoveries. Our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin emphasizes that in teaching physics and mathematics, it is important to show that these are not just numbers but ways of thinking. The teachers of our medalists managed to achieve this. Thanks to the teachers and parents for their dedication and support of the children.On its part, within the framework of the national project “Youth and Children,” the government will continue to create conditions for the development of talents and the realization of the potential of Russians as a whole,” said the deputy prime minister.

Sergey Kravtsov noted that the success of the national team testifies to the high development of education in the field of physics and natural sciences in the country and to how rich Russia is in talent.

“We can rightfully be proud of our outstanding students who demonstrated all their knowledge and coped with difficult tasks. Guys, I wish you good luck and success in mastering this important and complex science. I am confident that in the future you will be able to develop domestic technologies and be successful in directions demanded by our country,” he emphasized.

The Russian national team included the winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Schoolchildren Olympiad. The gold medals were awarded to:

► Alexander Asremov, P.L. Kapitsa Physics Lyceum;

► Artem Eremin, MAOU Kaliningrad Lyceum No. 23;

► Ivan Pruglo, GBOU city of Moscow “School No. 179”;

⚪ Bogdan Yaytsevsky, P.L. Kapitsa Physics Lyceum.

Awarded silver medals:

► Yaroslav Dobrovalov, P.L. Kapitsa Physics Lyceum;

► Ksenia Karpovich, P.L. Kapitsa Physics Lyceum;

► Roman Vorobyov, P.L. Kapitsa Physics Lyceum;

▲ Igor Sorokin, Physics and Technology Lyceum named after P.L. Kapitsa.

The team was led by Vitaliy Shevchenko, the director of pre-university training at the Moscow Physical-Technical Institute. The preparation for the competition for the guys took place at a training camp.

In 2026, the Asian Physics Olympiad brought together more than 200 students from 27 countries, including Australia, Indonesia, China, and Vietnam. Participants demonstrated their knowledge and skills in the subject through theoretical and practical rounds.
