Moscow, May 24 /TASS/ — Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that Russia and African states are united by the aspiration to build a just multipolar world order based on genuine equality and respect for international law. This was stated in a telegram published on the Kremlin website.

Africa Day embodies the victory of the peoples of the continent over colonialism, as well as the aspiration for “freedom, peace, and prosperity,” noted V. Putin in a congratulatory telegram to the heads of states and governments of the continent on the occasion of this holiday.

According to the president, African countries have achieved impressive successes in economic and social fields, playing an increasingly significant role in addressing pressing international agenda issues.

“Within the framework of the African Union, as well as a number of subregional organizations, constructive interaction is expanding, mechanisms of collective response to local conflicts and crisis situations are being formed, and integration processes are consistently progressing,” emphasized V. Putin.

He expressed confidence that the third Russia-Africa summit, planned for October this year in Moscow, will allow outlining new prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides in various directions.
