Islamabad, May 24 /Xin Hua/ — At least 24 people were killed and another 82 injured in a train explosion that occurred on Sunday in Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan. This was reported by Xin Hua and police sources who wished to remain anonymous.

A train with law enforcement officers heading home for the holidays departed from a military camp in Kwette. Around 8:05 local time, an explosion occurred, sources said.

Several wagons derailed from the rails, two of them caught fire. Vehicles nearby were also damaged. Among the dead and injured are women and children, sources added.

57 wounded were delivered to the military hospital, another 25 to the civilian hospital in Quetta.

As preliminary investigation showed, the suicide bomber detonated a vehicle rigged with more than 70 kg of explosives, sources reported. –0–
