Beijing, May 19 /Xinhua/ — The All-China Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a thematic consultative meeting in Beijing on Tuesday, dedicated to the comprehensive development of education, science, technology, and personnel training.
Speaking at the meeting, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPC, Chairman of the VK NPKS Van Hunin stated that education, science, technology, and personnel are fundamental strategic supports for modernization in the Chinese style.
He called on NPKS to activate work on conducting thematic research, consulting, developing recommendations, and supervision in order to promote independent scientific and technical innovations and independent staff training.
Van Hunin also called on political consultants to promote science and instill in society a culture that values science and supports it.
About 100 members of the VK NPKS took part in the consultative meeting. 22 political consultants and experts gave speeches.
At the meeting, a member of the National People’s Congress, Shen Yiqin, spoke. She called for the use of high-level scientific research to train highly qualified specialists, as well as to intensify efforts to solve deep and fundamental problems that restrain comprehensive development.
