Beijing, May 19 /Xinhua/ — The friendship between China and Russia, passed down from generation to generation, will be further deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. This was stated on Tuesday by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Geng Shuang.
Go Zhyakun made a corresponding statement at a regular briefing for journalists, commenting on a survey on the topic of friendship and cultural exchanges between the youth of China and Russia, conducted among residents of both countries aged 18 to 35 by the Chinese and Russian sides of the Education Council under the China-Russia Committee on Friendship, Peace, and Development.
A few days ago, at the Center for the Study of Global Public Opinion of the People’s University of China, a presentation of the report on the results of the survey took place. The report noted that more than 80 percent of respondents rated Chinese-Russian relations as friendly.
According to Go Tsyakun, this survey is a true barometer of public opinion in China and Russia. Its results reflect a high level of bilateral relations and hope for the expansion of exchanges among young people.
Reminding that Russian President Vladimir Putin will begin his state visit to China on Tuesday, the official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full confidence that under the strategic leadership of Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping and V. Putin, the China-Russia friendship will be further deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.
Young people from two countries are joining forces to bring new vital energy to Chinese-Russian relations of all-encompassing partnership and strategic interaction in a new era, added Go Tszakuny.
