Beijing, May 13 /Xinhua/ — China on Wednesday called on the relevant parties to strictly adhere to the principle of One China and stop providing grounds for separatist forces advocating for so-called “Taiwan independence,” said Tuesday the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Geng Shuang.

He made this statement at another departmental press conference after the head of the Taiwanese administration Lai Ching-te addressed the Copenhagen Democracy Summit via video link.

“The so-called Copenhagen summit on democracy is permeated with ideological bias. The summit has repeatedly invited separatist forces advocating for ‘Taiwan independence’ to make irresponsible statements, which constitutes a gross violation of the One China principle. China firmly opposes this,” Go Zeyekun noted. -0-
