Brussels, May 11 /Xin Hua/ — The member countries of the European Union on Monday agreed on new sanctions against Israeli settlers in response to violence against Palestinians. The corresponding agreement was reached after several months of deadlock in consultations. This was reported by the EU’s representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Kay Kallas.

K. Kallas stated on social media platform X that the foreign ministers of EU states approved the corresponding step. According to her, the decision was made against the backdrop of increasing violence by settlers and the expansion of settlements in the Israeli-occupied West Bank of the Jordan River. “It has long been time to get out of the deadlock and move to action,” wrote K. Kallas.
