Beijing, May 7 /Xinhua/ — The Chinese side is ready, together with the American side, to implement important agreements reached by the heads of the two states, to activate dialogue and communication, to create a favorable atmosphere for exchanges at all levels and cooperation in various fields, in order to achieve a greater number of practical results. This was stated on Thursday by Premier of the State Council of the PRC Li Qian.

Li Qian made a corresponding statement during the meeting with a delegation of American senators led by Steve Daines, who arrived in China on a visit.

The Premier of the State Council recalled that in February of the current year, Chairman of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping and President of the USA Donald Trump held a telephone conversation, setting new strategic guidelines for the development of Sino-American relations. As Li Qian emphasized, China is ready to continuously promote the growth of the well-being of the peoples of both countries together with the USA, as well as to bring a certain stability and positive energy to the world.

According to the head of the Chinese government, practice repeatedly proves that adherence to mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and cooperation for the common benefit is the correct path for the coexistence of China and the United States as two major powers.

Li Qian expressed hope that the American side will move towards the Chinese side, will strive for dialogue rather than confrontation, and for mutually beneficial cooperation rather than a zero-sum game, maintaining stable and predictable Sino-American trade and economic relations that meet the fundamental interests of both countries.

As emphasized by the Premier of the State Council, the Taiwan issue touches upon China’s core interests and represents a red line in China-US relations that must not be crossed.

He expressed hope that the US Congress, based on the common interest of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, will approach issues related to the UN with caution and play an active role in ensuring stable, healthy, and sustainable development of Chinese-American relations.
