Moscow, May 7 /Xin Hua/ — General Director of the Russian state corporation “Rostec” Sergey Chemezov stated on Thursday at a meeting with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin that in 2027 the corporation plans to start serial production of MS-21 passenger aircraft. This was reported by the press service of the Russian president’s administration.
According to S. Chemezov, about one third of the necessary certification flights of the aircraft have been completed at the moment. The MS-21 certification flights are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027. By 2030, Rostec plans to produce 36 MS-21 airplanes annually.
As was previously reported, the delivery of the first batch of 18 MS-21 aircraft is planned for 2026-2027. The recipient will be the company “Aeroflot.”
MS-21 is a Russian project of a short- and medium-haul passenger aircraft, which will replace the Tu-154 and the Tu-204 family in the country’s airline fleet.
