Beijing, May 7 /Xin Hua/ — China intends to deepen cooperation with Uzbekistan in the energy and resources sector, interconnectivity, digital and green economy, create more landmark projects, and promote high-quality construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway that meets high standards. Premier Li Qian of the State Council of the PRC announced this on Thursday.
Li Qian made a corresponding statement at a meeting in Beijing with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, who arrived in China on a visit.
Drawing attention to the complexity and confusion of the current international situation, the Chairman of the Government stated that China and Uzbekistan, as all-weather, all-encompassing strategic partners, must strengthen cohesion and cooperation in the new era.
As Li Qian emphasized, China intends to jointly follow the strategic leadership of the heads of the two states with Uzbekistan, consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen mutual support, expand comprehensive mutually beneficial cooperation, and contribute to new achievements in building the China-Uzbekistan community of shared destiny.
China is ready to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Uzbekistan and consistently promote liberalization and simplification of trade and investment procedures, added the head of the Chinese government.
According to him, the CN plans to import more high-quality products from Uzbekistan and encourage strong Chinese enterprises to invest in Uzbekistan. At the same time, Li Qian expressed hope that Uzbekistan will ensure the protection and legal rights and interests.
He stated that the parties should more effectively use the policy of mutual visa-free regime, increase the number of direct flights, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, education and youth, and deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
Li Qian also expressed China’s readiness to cooperate more closely with Uzbekistan within the framework of multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), to contribute to strengthening and improving the China-Central Asia mechanism, actively implement four major global initiatives, and promote the development of the international order in a more just and reasonable direction.
A. Aripov, on his part, noted that under the strategic leadership of the heads of the two states, Uzbek-Chinese relations of comprehensive all-weather strategic partnership in the new era have expanded into high-quality development and have become a model of good-neighborliness and friendship.
As indicated by the Uzbek Prime Minister, Uzbekistan firmly supports the principle of one China. At the same time, he highly appreciated the active support provided by the Chinese side to the process of reform and development in Uzbekistan.
The head of the Uzbek government stated readiness of his country to establish closer contacts with China at a high level, to effectively use mechanisms such as the Uzbekistan-China Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, to actively participate in the joint construction of the “Belt and Road,” to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, interconnection, culture, education, and tourism, and to jointly fight against the “three forces of evil” — terrorism, extremism, and separatism.
A. Aripov added that Uzbekistan intends to carry out close coordination and interaction with the SCO in the framework of such multifaceted mechanisms as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and China — Central Asia — and to contribute to even greater progress in the development of Uzbek-Chinese relations. –0–
