Washington, May 6 /Xinhua/ — The United States and Iran are close to signing a unilateral memorandum on ending the war, Axios portal reported on Wednesday.
The potential deal implies that Iran commits to imposing a moratorium on uranium enrichment, and the USA agrees to lift sanctions, while both sides will remove transit restrictions through the Strait of Hormuz.
The duration of the moratorium on uranium enrichment remains a subject of negotiations and, according to estimates, it will be 12-15 years, the statement says. It is also noted that Iran initially proposed a five-year suspension, while the US demanded 20 years. –0–
