Rosneft has opened registration for the Academic Tournament — the first competition of the Technological Marathon 2026.
Teams of scientific researchers, graduate students in physical and mathematical and technical specialties, as well as candidates and doctors of science are invited to participate. The prize fund of the Academic tournament amounts to 2.5 million rubles (before tax deduction).
Participants are offered to develop an effective numerical algorithm for restoring the history of temperature changes in the sedimentary rock of an oil well based on modern values. The best solutions will be used in the scientific software of “Rosneft”.
The technological marathon “Rosneft” is the successor of the Company’s IT Marathon, which united a series of competitions focused on information technology. This year, the event program is expanding: traditional competitions, such as the Academic Tournament, Hackathons, and the Geonavigation League, are complemented by new specialized contests — the Geological Tournament and TIM competitions.
The geological tournament will be held for specialists of the “Rosneft” enterprises and involves completing a comprehensive task on building a geological model of the deposit.
Competitions in information modeling technologies (TIM-competition) in 2026, in addition to contests for “Rosneft” specialists, will be held for students of specialized fields. Multidisciplinary teams from universities in four cities: Tomsk, Samara, Ufa, and Tyumen will participate in the battle for the title of “Best.” Teams will need to develop an information model of a capital construction object.

Prize winners and victors of all Marathon competitions will meet in December at the solemn finale in Moscow.
Conducting specialized competitions allows Rosneft to solve real production tasks by attracting highly qualified specialists and talented youth to cooperate. For participants, this is an opportunity to showcase themselves at the all-Russian level and create original solutions that will find application in the modern technologies of the oil and gas industry.
The organizer of the technological marathon is the center for the development and implementation of high-tech scientific technologies “RN-Technologies” and the Ufa design institute.
