Saint Petersburg, May 3 /Cina/ — The international sand sculpture festival is taking place on the territory of the Peter and Paul Fortress in Saint Petersburg under the slogan “Delight of Creativity.” It has attracted a large number of local residents and tourists.
As reported by the organizers, the festival, which opened on May 1, features sculptors from various regions of Russia, Belarus, and Armenia.
The exhibition unites art and literature, music and cinema, myths and fairy tales, love and romance, nature and images of Saint Petersburg, fantasy universes and literary motifs. Visitors were presented with dozens of sculptures dedicated to characters from fairy tales, fables, and myths. Thousands of tons of pure sand, specially extracted from a quarry in the Leningrad region, were used for their creation.
The sand sculpture festival is held annually in Saint Petersburg; in 2026, it opened for the 22nd time. The exhibition runs until September 1. –0–
