New Delhi, May 3 /Xinhua/ — At least nine people, including a child and four women, were killed, and nearly 20 more injured early Sunday morning as a result of a massive fire that broke out in a multi-story building in Delhi following a powerful explosion of an air conditioner. The city police reported this.
The incident occurred in the Vivek-Vihar area in East Delhi while residents were sleeping. According to the police, the fire engulfed the entire house within a few minutes.
Nine bodies were found in different parts of the building. The injured were taken to a local hospital.
14 fire engines were involved in extinguishing the fire. The causes of the explosion are being determined. –0–
