Thanks to the personal involvement and engagement of the Chairman of the Government, the Caucasus Investment Forum has grown into a key platform for dialogue between the state and business in the region. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Government Alexander Novak at a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Socio-Economic Development of the North Caucasian Federal District, which took place “in the field” of CIF-2026.

“The systemic decisions you make directly influence the socio-economic development of the region, allowing key problems that are restraining the potential of the district to be solved,” emphasized Alexander Novak, addressing the head of the Government.

According to him, in two days the forum was attended by more than 3 thousand participants from 27 countries, and more than 70 business program events were held. At the moment, 62 agreements have been signed totaling about 400 billion rubles. This year, within the framework of the forum, a special emphasis was placed on the development of youth entrepreneurship. More than 1.1 thousand young people participated in the Youth Day activities.

“The vector of command work of the federal center and regional command defines the models of economic development of the subjects of the North Caucasus developed according to your instructions. The results are evaluated based on the indicators approved by you. By the level of achievement of the indicators, the district traditionally ranks among the top three leaders, and last year also took third place. Breakthrough projects, the implementation of which is integrated into the economic development model, have a great influence on the achievement of the indicators,” the vice-premier emphasized.

The total volume of investments in the North Caucasian Federal District accumulated as of April 1 amounts to 627 billion rubles. Most of them, almost 500 billion rubles, are off-budget sources. In particular, last year the implementation of seven projects totaling 46 billion rubles was completed, the vice-premier clarified.

He reminded that one of the main instruments of supporting the North Caucasus by the Government is the implementation of national projects, which are fundamentally based on the achievement of national goals set by the President, as well as strategic tasks primarily aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens. In the past year, the financing of national projects from the federal budget amounted to 120 billion rubles. 344 facilities in education, healthcare, culture, sports, utilities, and transport have been built and repaired.

Within the framework of the tasks set by the Chairman of the Government to eliminate the shadow sector of the economy in the Caucasus, a system of measures to reduce the share of the shadow economy is being implemented, Alexander Novak continued. Losses of electricity and gas have been reduced, labor relations are being legalized, the number of checks has doubled, recorded with the use of control-cash technology over the past year.

“The economic stability of the North Caucasus is also inextricably linked with the development of tourism, this direction is under special attention of the Government,” confirmed the vice prime minister. He noted that the maximum effect in the creation and development of resorts is achieved with the participation of businesses. Thus, for the development of the resort “Mamisons” opened last year in the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania, it is planned to attract an anchor investor and conclude a concession agreement.
