Washington, April 30 /Xinhua/ — The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday that since the beginning of the maritime blockade of Iran, US forces have redirected 42 commercial vessels attempting to violate it.
“Today, the US Armed Forces have reached an important milestone and successfully redirected the 42nd commercial vessel attempting to break the blockade,” wrote CENTCOM head Brad Cooper on the social network X.
He emphasized that 41 seized tanker trucks carry about 69 million barrels of oil — this is more than 6 billion dollars of potential revenue for Teheran.
“The blockade is very effective, and American troops remain fully determined to ensure its full compliance,” added B. Cooper.
The USA imposed a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, preventing the passage of ships to Iranian ports and from them. The blockade came into effect after the failure of Iranian-American negotiations held in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, on April 11 and 12.
