Moscow, April 29 /TASS/ — The incidence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in Russia has halved since 2016 and reached a historic minimum. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Health, according to TASS.

In 2025, the number of newly registered cases of the disease amounted to 43 thousand, which is almost 11 percent less than the indicator for 2024. The coverage of antiretroviral therapy by the end of 2025 reached 91.8 percent.

In 2025, about 40 percent of Russian citizens took an HIV test. For accounting HIV-infected citizens in the country, a special federal registry of such persons has been maintained for more than six years, which prevents duplication of patient records, the ministry reported. –0–
