Brest /Belarus/, April 29 /Xin Hua/ — “I am confident that Belarus-China cooperation has a bright future,” Belarus and China have many successful examples of joint projects. This was stated on Tuesday in an exclusive interview by correspondent Xin Hua in Brest at the International Forum of Business Contacts “The First Region — The Territory of Success” by the Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee of Belarus, Petr Paromchik.

“We carry out those tasks that have been defined by the leaders of our states. It is especially important that all issues of bilateral cooperation are under control. All documents signed by the heads of our states speak of our all-weather friendship. Our leaders hold systematic meetings. Belarusian government leaders, industry ministers also regularly visit the CSTO,” noted the chairman of the Brest regional executive committee.

In bilateral cooperation, P. Paromchik noted the importance of the joint Belarusian-Chinese commission, where plans, which are subject to continuous monitoring, are made.

“I don’t see any obstacles in Belarusian-Chinese interaction. I am confident that Belarusian-Chinese cooperation has a bright future. We correctly assess all world events and speak politically in one language. We also talk about our independence, that we don’t need to be taught, because we ourselves will figure out how to live on our land, what to do, and whom to be friends with. The conditions themselves and the history, culture, and traditions of both the Belarusian and Chinese peoples speak about the fact that our friendship is long-lasting,” said P. Paromchik.

He emphasized that Belarusian-Chinese relations are characterized by honesty, frankness, and openness. “Moreover, our peoples have a desire to learn from each other. Our peoples are close in many vital components. Together we defend and fight for our peoples to continue living in peace,” P. Paromchik noted.

According to him, Belarus and China have many successful examples of joint projects. Among them, P. Paromchik mentioned the production of automobiles, a factory built for the production of refrigerators in the Brest region, which successfully supplies its products to the market. He also particularly noted the use of Chinese technologies and equipment at Belarusian enterprises in various industries, which enhances the competitiveness of Belarusian products.

Speaking about the measures taken by the Brest region government to attract Chinese investors, P. Paromchik noted that a free economic zone has been created in the region, within which good preferences are offered.

“Two industrial parks have also been created. In the free economic zone, we are constructing production areas and offering our partners from other countries to come here with their production. There are also very significant preferences here. We are also ready, according to the business’s assignment, to create the areas necessary for future production,” he said.

“We are ready to offer Chinese partners sites for creating logistics hubs so that subsequent products produced in China, or produced in the territory of the Brest region and other regions of Belarus, are exported to European countries,” added the chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.

In addition, P. Paromchik noted that medicine is one of the directions of bilateral cooperation. Chinese specialists are already working in Brest hospitals. He also drew attention to the fact that the A. S. Pushkin Brest State University opened the Confucius Institute, where Chinese teachers teach the Chinese language, culture on a systematic basis, and there is a very high demand for these courses. “There is demand among the youth of Belarus for acquaintance with the Chinese language and culture. This is also an important direction for interaction,” he explained.

Mr. Parhomchik has visited China many times and has witnessed its development over the past years. He expressed admiration for the pace of development of the PRC and what the country has achieved over the last three decades.

“If we used to say that Europe is the center of passenger car manufacturing development, then I am confident that today the center for the production and development of passenger cars has shifted from Europe to China. Achieving such a feat in such a short period of time deserves special respect. I am convinced of this. We have much to learn, so Belarus and China will move forward together,” summarized P. Paromchik. –0–
