Yerevan, April 27 /Xin Hua/ — The volume of Armenia’s foreign trade turnover in the first quarter of the current year exceeded the figure for the same period in 2025 by 4.6%, amounting to about 4.7 billion US dollars. This was reported on Monday by the Statistical Committee of Armenia.

At the same time, turnover in March decreased by 13.1 percent compared to February, and relative to March 2025, it declined by 6.8 percent.

Exports for the first three months increased by 4.5% year-on-year, reaching almost 1.7 billion dollars. Imports increased by 4.6%, exceeding 2.9 billion dollars.

The decrease in the volume of foreign trade turnover on a monthly basis is most likely due to the situation in the Persian Gulf region and the logistical problems that have arisen in connection with it.

At the same time, the index of economic activity in Armenia in the first quarter of 2026 grew by 7.1% year on year. The highest growth of 22% was recorded in the construction sector. The volume of industrial production increased by 13.4%, services (excluding trade) by 7.4%, and domestic trade by 2.1%.

In the first three months, 2.6 billion kWh of electricity were produced in the country, which is 7.7% more than the figure for the same period of the previous year. –0–
