During a working trip to the Smolensk region, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev discussed with the head of the region Vasily Anokhin issues concerning the development of the agro-industrial complex, rural territories, and environmental well-being.
“Smolenshchina is one of the important economic centers of the Non-Black Earth Zone of our country. The agro-industrial complex plays a significant role in the region’s economy. Smolensk Oblast is an important producer of certain grain crops, for example, rye. It is also historically a leader in the volume of flax and dolguntsa. To support the agro-industrial complex and the development of rural areas of the region, the Government of Russia allocated more than 1.5 billion rubles in 2026, which is noticeably higher than the figure for 2025,” said Dmitry Patrushev.
The Deputy Prime Minister drew attention to the fact that in the near future spring fieldwork should begin in the Smolensk region, and emphasized the importance of controlling the availability of indispensable material and technical resources for farmers.
Dmitry Patrushev noted that there are prospects for the development of crop production in the region, since significant areas of arable land deposits are concentrated here.
The Deputy Prime Minister and the governor also discussed issues of natural resource management and environmental protection. The events of the national project “Ecological Well-being” in the region include efforts aimed at forest conservation and the construction of infrastructure for waste management. Dmitry Patrushev emphasized the importance of monitoring the deadlines for the implementation of plans. In addition, during the meeting, issues concerning the further development of the national park “Smolenskoye Poozerye” were raised.
During the working trip, Dmitry Patrushev visited several facilities. Among them is a site where a large-scale reconstruction of a former milling complex is being completed. Currently, one of the largest feed production plants for fish in the country is being built here. In addition, the Vice Premier assessed the capacities of the largest flax producer in Russia.
